孔子 (公元前551年－公元前479年)

生于中国山东曲阜。中国春秋末期的思想家和教育家，儒家思想的创始人。孔子集华夏上古文化之大成，编纂 "春秋”，修订“五经”，创办私学，打破传统贵族教育，被后世统治者尊为孔圣人、万世师表。

Confucius (551-479 BC), born in Qufu, Shandong, China, was a philosopher and educator in the late Spring and Autumn period of Chinese history. He was the founder of Confucianism, and a great master of ancient Chinese culture and thoughts. He compiled or revised the Five Classics including the Spring and Autumn Annuals. He founded private schools, breaking with the tradition of education being a privilege enjoyed by the aristocracy. Later generations honored him as the Sage Confucius and the Model Teacher for All Ages.
